New, revised edition including recent work.
Geraldine Moorkens Byrne is an award winning poet and writer from Dublin, Ireland. Her work has been published in a variety of magazines, anthologies, Ezines, and  print publications. Several of her poems have been performed as drama pieces in the UK, Ireland and the USA. She is a founding editor of the PPP poetry collective and she has edited several poetry collections. She has also written and published mystery and cozy novels and a children's book. She is also the author of a forthcoming book on the Irish folk magic tradition, Draíocht Ceoil.
This is her first collection of her own work. As a poet she is inspired by the heritage and landscape of Ireland, the literary and poetic forms of Old Irish and the long political and satirical tradition of the Filí.

Whether exploring spiritual or social matters, she writes with a rich imagery and wit. This collection is divided into several parts, reflecting the wide interest of the poet. At the Gate (a reference to the ancient Irish tradition of fasting against an injustice) deals with the poetry of politics and justice. In the Grove contains the poetry of spirit and philosophy. By the Fireside showcases the poetry of love and personal life.
The revised edition now available contains a foreword by author, poet and spiritual educator Casey June Wolf (Mael Brigde) as well as new work. It also contains the Alzheimer's Series, written to raise awareness of the plight of family carers in Ireland.

Over 40 years of writing is contained in one volume.
